The cyanobacteria crisis in Taihu Lake that broke out in 2007 has pressed the fast forward button for the water environment management and ecological restoration of Taihu Lake. In the following 12 years, from water to shore, measures such as urban and rural sewage treatment, industrial and agricultural pollution source treatment, small watershed comprehensive management and ecological restoration, and Taihu Lake cyanobacteria bloom monitoring and early warning measures have gradually restored Taihu Lake to its original appearance.

Entering June, the drizzle of the south of the Yangtze River in early summer, the Taihu Lake Ecosystem Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, under an inconspicuous buoy in the lake, a smart brain network is sending back meteorological and hydrological real-time data every tens of minutes Go to the lobby on the first floor of the research station.

In the air, remote sensing satellites take pictures of Taihu Lake twice a day. Researchers can receive the data that night and give Taihu a "physical examination". Where there are cyanobacteria blooms, and where there may be high-risk areas, they can give early warning.

Taihu Lake is the third largest freshwater lake in the country. Eight water sources in Jiangsu are in Taihu Lake, and the annual water intake accounts for 22.2% of the province's annual water intake. About one-third of the population in Shanghai drinks water from Taihu Lake, and Huzhou, Zhejiang also draws water from Taihu Lake.
